چکیده

Background/Aim. Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) is a common complication after the percutaneous coronary intervention, associated with prolonged hospital stay, increased medical costs, and risk of adverse clinical outcomes. The aim this study was to compare changes in levels serum creatinine (sCr) cystatin C (sCyC) 24 h angiography as an early indicator CI-AKI. Methods. included 45 patients chronic renal failure grade I?III scheduled for angiography. Levels sCr sCyC were measured day before CI-AKI defined 25% 10% increase from baseline within contrast media exposure, absence alternative causes. Results. Mean concentra-tions 86.4 ? 22.6 ?mol/L 1.18 0.52 mg/dL, respectively administration, 90.6 24.1 1.24 0.65 exposure. sCr-based occurred 4 (8.89%) sCyC-based detected 19 (42.22%) procedure (p < 0.001). Conclusion. level exposure more sensitive than sCR level.

Journal club. Cystatin C and contrast-induced acute kidney injury.

BACKGROUND Cystatin C (CyC) is more sensitive than serum creatinine (sCr) to rapidly detect acute changes in renal function. METHODS AND RESULTS We measured CyC together with sCr in 410 consecutive patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing either coronary and/or peripheral angiography and/or angioplasty. sCr was assessed at baseline and 24 and 48 hours after contrast media exposure. CyC...

Use of Both Serum Cystatin C and Creatinine as Diagnostic Criteria for Contrast‐Induced Acute Kidney Injury and Its Clinical Implications

BACKGROUND Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) was traditionally defined as an increase in serum creatinine (sCr) after contrast media exposure. Recently, serum cystatin C (sCyC) has been proposed as an alternative to detect acute changes in renal function. The clinical implications of combining sCyC and sCr to diagnose CI-AKI remain unknown. METHODS AND RESULTS One thousand seventy...

Early Acute Kidney Injury based on Serum Creatinine or Cystatin C in Intensive Care Unit after Major Trauma

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common problem in critically ill patients and is independently associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Recently, serum cystatin C has been shown to be superior to creatinine in early detection of renal function impairment. We compared estimated GFR based on serum cystatin C with estimated GFR based on serum creatinine for early detection of ...

Cystatin C and serum creatinine in estimating acute kidney injury of shock patients.

BACKGROUND Serum creatinine (SCr) is the most commonly used parameter to estimate renal function impairement, but there are some shortcomings. Many factors including age, gender, drug, diet, muscle mass and metabolic rate can influence SCr, leading to an inaccurate estimation of kidney impairment. Studies have shown that cystatin C (CysC) is not affected by factors such as muscle mass, age, gen...
